Held a week before Thanksgiving, Friendsgiving, was started to not only gather nonprofits, churches, and social/political leaders together to help bless our communities, but to also draw strength, unity and information from each other as we begin to head towards an new year in thanksgiving.
While we are blessing the communities with donations from different sponsors and donors ,we also take time out to honor different nonprofits who have made a tremendous and positive impact. It is a day of fun activities, music, and fun, as we give thanks, and celebrate the Friend who Give
It's fun supporting a great cause with friends ,family, co-workers, school, or team, and it's another way to set a team goal donation for a great cause.

Sybastian Smith is a 39 year-old LGBTQ+ community advocate, Certified Health Educator, Medical Assistant and Phlebotomist of thirteen years. Mr. Smith has an Academic Associates degree in Medical Office Management: Administrative and Assisting, as well as, an Associates of Science degree while currently pursuing his Bachelor's of Science in Nursing degree. His goal is to become a Licensed Family Health Nurse Practitioner with a specialized concentration on transgender patients' affirmative healthcare. Upon his arrival to Atlanta, Sybastian continued to work in the healthcare field but switched settings and worked as a Health Educator and Medical Suite supervisor in cis-women's health for the Feminist Women's Health Center (FWHC). Sybastian’s willingness to help, hard work and his advocacy for equality for many marginalized communities and specifically transgender inclusion, lead to his 2011 promotion to the Trans Health Initiative (THI) Coordinator at FWHC. THI helped all that identify under the transgender umbrella receive the sensitive, safe and vital health care services they need. THI served thousands of transgender and non-binary identifying clients during his 7-year tenure. While Sybastian no longer works at the health center, he continues to play a vital role in transgender advocacy.
Sybastian is the Georgia, chapter president of the national organization Black Trans Men Inc.(BTMI) as well as, sits on the board of Black Trans Advocacy Coalition (BTAC). He occupies other leadership roles throughout the year and during the yearly Black Transgender Advocacy Conference held in Dallas, TX. Black Transmen Inc. (BTMI) National Headquarters is located in Dallas, TX and lead by Founder and Executive Director Carter Brown. BTMI is the first national nonprofit organization of African American transmen solely focused on acknowledgment, equality, social advocacy and empowering transmen with resources to aid in a healthy transition and human experience. Sybastian continues to participate in panel discussions, ambassadorship in local grassroots organizations, interviews and give culture competency trainings at schools and businesses nationwide on transgender issues and topics.
Sybastian has been crowned Mr. Black Trans International 2018 and awarded BTMI Man of the Year for 2019 amongst those esteemed accolades. Sybastian feels as a transgender man himself, he was born to help underserved communities and people who look like him. Initially through THI and now with the help of BTMI and several other organizations, he is able to help make a difference in one of the most underserved communities; the transgender community. Open dialogue and education is the key to erasing ignorance. The need to educate people about transgender lives and experiences is why he works so diligently to advocate for LGBTQ+ competent healthcare, equal social and economic rights.
Sybastian models his life, work, and advocacy after this famous quote, “If you don’t stand for something, you will fall for anything.” ~Malcolm X
